Mr Andrew Wood
Andrew has worked as a Firefighter and Officer for Fire Rescue Victoria for 12 years across a number of directorates specialising in Operations, Emergency Management and Operational Improvement. Throughout his career Andrew has undertaken various functional roles for large scale emergencies both on the fireground as well as within Incident Control Centres including the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires and recent Victorian Storm event. In his current role he works as FRV Emergency Management Liaison in the Victorian State Control Centre and is completing a Master of Disaster and Emergency Response.
In 2018 he took leave to undertake a 13 month posting through the Australian Volunteers International program as an Emergency Management Mentor working with the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) in Port Vila, Vanuatu. This role saw him supporting the NDMO with the management of various large scale disasters while working closely with the UN Cluster system partners, NGO’s, Government Ministries as well as the Australian High Commission, Australian Defence Force and other international governments. Andrew also worked on the development of Vanuatu’s National and Provincial emergency management doctrine along with the delivery of specialised incident management training while building the capacity of local counterparts.
