Delivering integrated fire protection systems for modern tunnel infrastructure

19 Aug 2026
IFE Australia | Meeting Room 211
This session will explore the challenges and best practices in designing and delivering fire protection systems for complex tunnel environments. Drawing on practical experience as a Technical Lead for Transport for NSW, it will cover the integration of key fire life safety elements including detection, suppression, fire brigade interface and operations.

The session will highlight how design approaches are applied to meet stringent safety requirements while addressing operational constraints unique to tunnels. It will also examine critical coordination across multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder engagement, and compliance with evolving standards.

Real-world insights will be shared on system integration, risk management, and commissioning, with a focus on ensuring reliability and effective emergency response. The session aims to provide practical lessons learned and strategies to enhance safety outcomes in tunnels.
