About Prof. Mehmet Ulubasoglu
Professor Mehmet Ulubasoglu is a Professor at the Department of Economics at Deakin University, and the Director of the Centre for Energy, the Environment and Natural Disasters. He has published extensively in top international journals, including the Economic Record, the Review of Economics and Statistics, European Economic Review and American Journal of Political Science. He has also acted as an invited referee for over 30 journals, delivered 50 invited seminars, and serves on the editorial boards of two international journals. Prof. Ulubasoglu has been awarded several research projects as chief investigator both nationally and internationally, including by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre, Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation, and Asia-Pacific Network, and the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre. He has also held consultancy roles for the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. His research on the economics of natural disasters engages several research end-users, including the Emergency Management Australia of the Federal Government, the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, Victorian DELWP and IGEM, South Australia DEWNR and Western Australian Office of Bushfire Risk Management.
