About Neil Savery
Neil Savery is Chief Executive of the Australian Building Codes Board, which has responsibility for developing the national codes and standards for building construction in Australia. Currently Neil is engaged in developing improvements to the national building regulatory systems to help lift practitioner compliance and enhance productivity through a change to the ABCB’s business model that puts a focus on access, awareness and understanding of the National Construction Code. Prior to this, Neil was a member of the Australian Building Codes Board for 11 years. During this period he was the Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Building and Plumbing Industry Commissions, the Chief Planning Executive for the ACT Planning & Land Authority and the Executive Director of Planning South Australia. Neil has also worked as a senior town planner in local government, private practice and been the national president of the Planning Institute of Australia. Neil holds qualifications in town planning, urban design and ecologically sustainable development, is a Registered Planner and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
