About Thablay Sher
Thablay Sher is the Multi-lingual Liaison Officer for the Wimmera CALD Workforce Industry Partnership project through the Nhill Learning Centre, supporting the Karen community with their employment needs. She holds a Certificate IV in Community Services and is currently studying a Bachelor of Social Sciences and has been honoured with many awards despite her young age. She is an active member of the Nhill Rotary Club and the Nhill Karen Community Group and was a valued staff member in her previous role at Nhill College as a Multicultural Education Aide. In between all this she manages to fit in interpreting for many government and non government organisations. Coming from a refugee background, Thablay has personally experienced the hardships of coming to a new country where everything is so different, especially the language and culture. She believes everyone should be treated equally regardless of race, colour, or ethnic background and should receive every opportunity to succeed. She works hard in the community advocating for the need of Karen people in Nhill and around the Wimmera in Victoria. Outside of work she enjoys hiking, spending time with friends and gardening.
