Associate Professor In Fire Modelling, Victoria University
About Khalid Moinuddin
Khalid Moinuddin is an Associate Professor of Fire Safety Engineering at Victoria University. A/Prof Moinuddin completed his PhD in fluids turbulence at the University of Melbourne in 2003. Besides his PhD, he obtained a Graduate Diploma in Building Fire Safety and Risk Engineering from Victoria University. He is currently involved in several computational and experimental research projects in the area of turbulent fluid motion, combustion, flame growth and propagation, fire suppression, concrete structures in fire and fire risk analysis. He has over 70 refereed research articles. He is an Editorial Board member of Fire Safety Journal. He was instrumental in the formation of a PhD group within Victoria University’s fire group. He guided five PhD students to the completion and is currently supervising another five. Currently A/Prof Moinuddin is leading a Bushfire and Natural Hazard CRC project to develop and apply a physics-based model that is founded on basic fire dynamics and corresponding differential equations to simulate bushfire scenarios including ember transport to obtain parameters for operational models.
