About Shane Daw Esm
Shane Daw is the National Coastal Risk & Safety Manager and is responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining the national strategic direction of coastal safety and risk across all surf lifesaving activities. The role manages and oversees strategy and programs across coastal safety, lifesaving operations, and research and emergency services. Shane has worked for over 25 years within surf lifesaving in areas of research, operations, coastal risk management and strategy. His involvement varies from strategy through investigations and acting as a key expert at coronial cases through to being a rescue practitioner including 28 years in helicopter operations as senior crew. He has been involved in development programs and initiatives in Bali and Fiji all centred on drowning prevention including the development of programs, water safety plans and committees to address these issues and presented at local and international forums. Shane has been involved in drowning research and coronial inquests and investigations and presented findings, reports and evidence to the coroner’s office along with recommendations including the National Coastal Safety Reports.
