Rokowati K. Crocker

Leading Firefighter / Training Instructor, Fiji National Fire Authority

About Rokowati K. Crocker

Mrs Rokowati Crocker has been involved in emergency response since she joined the Fiji National Fire Authority in 2008 as the only female fire fighter in a class of 30 recruits. During her 13 years of service Rokowati has been based in Suva Fire Station and regularly responds to structural fires, industrial fires and vehicle fires. Rokowati is also qualified in various types of rescue including vertical rescue, confined space rescue, swift water rescue and road accident rescue as well as qualified in first aid medical treatment which she has utilized in many life threatening situations. After working her way to a leading firefighter role, in 2016 Rokowati joined the Training Department as a Training Instructor where she assists the Sub Officer and Station Officer Training Department in analyzing the training needs of the Fiji National Fire Authority, plans, designs and implements the training programs. Rokowati joined the fire service as she recognizes the value in not rushing into a dangerous situation but rather focusing on controlling the situation at hand and ensuring that saving lives comes first. “I can safely say that we are not intimidated by the men who have long been the muscle of this service. We can be just as strong and have a good head on our shoulders to make those critical decisions when it matters.”
