10:20–10:40 | Exercise Clear Corridor: Multi-Agency Interoperability on Regional Transport Corridors 

Presenter: Ms Jessica Bennett (CME Mines Rescue Committee) 

Abstract: 
Mine site Emergency Response Teams operating in remote environments are often the first responders to significant incidents on regional transport corridors. This presentation reviews Exercise Clear Corridor (conducted 11 February 2026), a large-scale field exercise simulating a mass-casualty collision involving a passenger bus and a heavy vehicle, testing five mining operations alongside WAPOL, DFES, RFDS and St John Ambulance. It explores early incident control, multi-agency coordination, information flow, and responder welfare monitoring, highlighting how aligned leadership intent and interoperability arrangements translate into faster, more confident frontline action. 

10:40–11:00 | Command & Readiness: High-Fidelity Training in Remote High-Risk Environments 

Presenter: Mr Blair Bayens (Principal Medical, BHP WAIO) 

Abstract: 
This presentation explores the practical deployment of the BHP WAIO Jimblebar Incident Management Team mass casualty training exercise, the integration of the BHP HEMS platform, and the operational role of BHP’s Security and Emergency Management Operations Centre. Attendees will learn how high-fidelity training and integrated emergency systems enhance clinical and operational readiness in remote, high-risk environments, strengthening decision quality, coordination and resilience when incidents escalate rapidly. 

11:00–11:20 | Seismic Crisis Management: Real-World Lessons from the Cadia Earthquake 

Presenter: Michael Dillon (Emergency Response Coordinator, Newmont) 

Abstract: 
On 14 April, a 4.5MLa earthquake struck near the Newmont Cadia underground mining operation. While emergency systems successfully evacuated all underground personnel without injury, the incident put both the site Incident Control Team and the site crisis management team to the ultimate test. This session provides an unvarnished review of the emergency response, detailing lessons learned in command structures, underground communication under structural stress, and tactical post-seismic re-entry protocols. 

11:20–11:40 | AI in the Incident Management Team: From Concept to Operational Reality 

Presenter: Mr Storm Richter (EMCORP Group) 

Abstract: 
While AI is rapidly reshaping decision-making across industries, its practical application within Incident Management Teams remains largely untapped. This presentation demonstrates how AI can be introduced as a decision-support capability within existing IMT frameworks to enhance situational awareness, process information rapidly and reduce cognitive load without replacing human judgment. It also explores governance, trust and leadership disciplines needed to implement AI ethically and effectively in time-critical environments.
