Not from the fire, from the truck: Protecting firefighters from diesel exhaust
Diesel exhaust, fire station air quality, and the regulatory shift arriving December 2026. Diesel exhaust contains diesel particulate matter (DPM) a Group 1 carcinogen linked to cancer, present in fire stations just as on any industrial site. From 1 December 2026, Australia's first legally enforceable DPM exposure limit takes effect.
