Firefighting is an inherently high-risk profession, with well-documented exposure to carcinogens, cardiovascular risk, and environmental hazards such as PFAS. In response, FRV, in partnership with Cogent Thinking, has implemented a lifesaving, comprehensive Health Monitoring Program.

This panel brings together clinical experts, program leaders, and operational stakeholders to explore the design, delivery, and outcomes of this world-leading model. The session will provide a practical overview of the program’s key components, including risk-based screening, longitudinal health tracking, and tailored clinical interventions.

Presenters will examine how the program aligns with and supports presumptive cancer legislation through targeted, evidence-informed screening protocols, enabling earlier identification of malignancies and improved health outcomes. Emerging findings related to PFAS exposure will be discussed, alongside insights into cardiovascular risk profiling within the firefighter population.

Importantly, the panel will move beyond theory to demonstrate measurable impact—highlighting real-world outcomes, trends, and case examples that illustrate how proactive health monitoring is transforming early detection, clinical decision-making, and workforce wellbeing.

This session will provide attendees with a scalable model for occupational health that not only mitigates risk but is demonstrably life-changing—shifting the paradigm from reactive care to proactive, preventative health management in emergency services.
