Janine started her Emergency Services journey when she was 16 as a Surf Life Saving volunteer in her home town of Gisborne, New Zealand.
Janine had an 11-year career as a police officer with the New Zealand Police, serving in general duties and a number of specialist roles and national committees including the Staff Safety Committee and Women’s Consultative Group.
Relocating to Australia in 2000, she commenced with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) as a Professional Development Officer in January 2001.
Janine undertook the role of Manager of QFES Operational Recruitment from 2006-2014 and remains with QFES, currently in the role of Principal Advisor Talent Development within the Human Capital Strategy directorate.
Janine is passionate about helping people be the best they can be through development, learning and self-awareness.
With an operational background Janine blends her practical knowledge with experience in the development and implementation of contemporary and innovative people strategies including: attraction and retention; performance development; fairness, equity and inclusion; transformational and inclusive leadership. She considers herself an ally of inclusion and a champion of change.
