Biography

John McGarvey joined Fire and Rescue in 2005 is now a Senior Firefighter and Rescue Operator. John has recently been responsible for the customisation, promotion and delivery of FRNSW new Resilience @ Work RAW Mind Coach Program.  He has also been a senior member of the organisation’s critical incident peer support team for over 9 years and has acted in the role of Wellbeing Coordinator. John also co-authored the current FRNSW peer led education sessions on Good Mental Health for Firefighters and Critical Incident Stress and is one of FRNSW lead presenters of this training as well as being a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. He has previously been nominated as a finalist in the Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Awards for his work in the Mental Health and the Peer Support Arena. John is passionate about the mental wellbeing of first responders and continues to seek out and contribute to cutting edge programs that develop the resilience of Firefighters and other first responders.
