Alexandra Lacey is a proud Ewamian woman and a dedicated ranger within the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service. In her new role as 005 Operational Ranger, Alex is the first Ewamian woman to become an Incident Controller and Aerial Incendiary Operator. In 2022, Alex was one of four Indigenous Australian women selected to participate in the first-ever Indigenous Women-in-Fire Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (WTREX) in California, where she shared knowledge of cultural burning practices with women from the Karuk tribe. Alex was a key member of the AUSWTREX Working Group that organised and hosted Australia’s first Women-in-Fire Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (AUSWTREX).
