,
Fire and Rescue NSW
Belinda Hooker has worked with Fire and Rescue NSW since January 1996 and has just celebrated 30 years of service in the organisation. Belinda was the ninth women to join the organisation as a permanent firefighter and has progressed through her career to become the second women to become a FRNSW Superintendent.
Belinda has filled various roles during this time, both operation and non- operational, including Education and Training, Operational Safety, and Strategic Capability. Belinda currently sits on the Board of the Museum of Fire, FRNSW Relief and Welfare Fund Committee and the Women’s Inclusive Network. Over the past 4 years Belinda has worked as a Staff Officer to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. Currently her role is Protocol & Liaison Officer for Fire and Rescue NSW.
Belinda is passionate about supporting women across the organisation and helping develop the next generation of leaders. A notable achievement in Belinda’s career occurred in 2025, when she was part of a small project team that authored Trailblazing, a book documenting the history of female firefighters in Fire and Rescue NSW. The publication coincided with the organisation marking 40 years of women in its ranks, making the project particularly meaningful.
A most significant achievement in her career was receiving an Australian Fire Service Medal on Australia Day 2023.
