Jennifer Black

Senior Psychologist, NSW Rural Fire Service

Jen Black (she/her) is a Senior Psychologist with the NSW Rural Fire Service, based in the regional town of Tamworth. She has extensive experience across public, private, and community mental health settings, with a strong focus on supporting first responder and emergency service personnel and other high risk populations. Her background spans corrective services, community mental health, and private practice, bringing a practical, systems informed perspective to complex mental health challenges.

As part of the NSW RFS Mental Health Services team, Jen provides extensive psychological services to volunteer and salaried members and supports organisation wide mental health and wellbeing initiatives, including psychoeducation and training, leadership consultation, and coordinated response to critical incidents. She has also undertaken project based work supporting the development of service frameworks, protocols, and implementation activities aligned with the RFS Mental Health Strategy, and is closely involved in shaping how mental health services are promoted and delivered across the RFS.

Jen contributes to sector wide collaboration through her involvement with the AFAC Mental Health and Wellbeing Group and Phoenix Australia research projects, supporting the development of evidence informed resources at a national level.
