Felipe Aires
Dr Felipe Aires has more than 10 years’ experience turning research and knowledge into action with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. He is currently Acting Senior Knowledge Exchange Officer for the Applied Bushfire Science Program within Science and Insights Division, at the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). Felipe works at the intersection of fire science, knowledge exchange, operational improvement and science communication.
Working to bring researchers, fire practitioners, Aboriginal knowledge holders and operational teams together to bridge the gap between evidence and practice. His work focuses not just on communicating research, but on creating the relationships, systems and conditions that enable knowledge to influence decisions, improve practice and deliver better outcomes. He is particularly interested in knowledge brokering and creating and maintaining networks: what it takes to move good research beyond reports and journals and into the hands, conversations and decisions of the people who can put it into practice.
