Gary Ashley
With over 36 years in emergency services, Mr. Ashley has worked nearly every role across both public and private sectors. He began his career in 1988 as an ambulance dispatcher handling 9-1-1 medical calls for the City of Lodi. In January of 1989, his first call as an EMT was the tragic Cleveland School shooting in Stockton, California.
By late 1991 he became a licensed paramedic and was hired by the Fremont Fire Department as a firefighter/paramedic by the fall 1994. Fremont is also the location of Tesla’s first vehicle manufacturing facility. His first major fire with the department was a four-alarm furniture warehouse blaze where he ended up rescuing two trapped firefighters, earning him the Department’s Medal of Valor.
Mr. Ashley advanced through every rank while with Fremont Fire, including Acting Deputy Chief and was the first tactical medic for Fremont PD’s SWAT team. After retiring at the rank of Battalion Chief, he joined Tesla to lead their emergency response team at the Megafactory in Lathrop, California. He currently serves as Tesla’s Fire Operations Liaison for North America.
