Kaye Ahsam

Manager Women's Development, Fire and Emergency New Zealand

Kaye is a Senior Project Advisor with Fire and Emergency New Zealand, working on initiatives that support culture change through the Eke Taumata project. She was also formerly the Manager of Women’s Development.

Kaye began her journey with Fire and Emergency seventeen years ago as a volunteer. After becoming the first female Station Officer in her brigade, she developed a strong focus on driving meaningful change for women across the organisation.

Since joining the Women’s Development team in 2021, Kaye has contributed to a range of key initiatives aimed at improving equity, inclusion and operational experience. This has included the introduction of Emergency Personal Hygiene Packs on appliances, research into the barriers and enablers of women’s career progression, the development of female fit uniforms, and leading menopause-focused initiatives.

Kaye is passionate about creating practical evidence-based solutions that improve outcomes not only for women, but for the wider workforce.
