Manager Aboriginal Outcomes , NSW Reconstruction Authority
I was born in Coonabarabran NSW (my ‘homeland’)- Grandmother Gomeroi and Grandfather Wiradjuri. I have been visiting on Bundjalung Country in Lismore over half of my life. I am employed with the NSW Reconstruction Authority, focussing on Aboriginal community outcomes and engagement in pathways to think strategically about disasters in NSW. I have a long-standing professional background in the not-for-profit sector as well as NSW Government Agencies. My passion is for systemic change to better understand strengths of Aboriginal communities in preparing, recovering from and mitigation of disaster events as well as data sovereignty/data governance. I enjoy intentional relationships across sector to enable sound advocacy and sector priority shift. I believe the dignity of choice will lead to self-determination and empowerment for Aboriginal people, caring for all elements of identity and connection to one another and Land. Understanding and accepting differences in ways of knowing, being and doing will lead to purposeful change for Aboriginal communities, I actively challenge unconscious bias.
