Nick is a Research Fellow with the Bushfire Research Centre of Excellence at the ANU. Nick’s research primarily focuses on understanding the benefits and limitations of technology in bushfire management, particularly early fire detection technologies. He contributed to a national roadmap for remotely piloted aircraft system usage in bushfire management, where he identified potential uses cases for this technology. In addition to this work, Nick has experience researching how disturbance and landscape features affect flammability via fuels and moisture availability. Prior to his academic career, Nick was a research and consultant ecologist in south-eastern Australian.
