Paul Fitzgerald is a Registered Psychologist and AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor with senior leadership experience across health, safety, and wellbeing within the emergency services sector. Currently employed at Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV), Paul has spent his career working closely with paid and volunteer emergency service personnel, developing a strong interest in the intersection between leadership, organisational culture, and their impact on responder wellbeing. This interest formed the basis of his successful 2025 Emergency Services Foundation (ESF) scholarship examining the impact of Servant Leadership within emergency services.
Throughout his career, Paul has led and embedded a range of wellbeing and leadership initiatives across FRV and Victorian State Emergency Service (VicSES). He currently provides clinical services and delivers psychological training, peer capability development, and leadership initiatives across high-pressure operational settings.
Paul has supported responders during major interagency disaster responses including the Black Summer recovery, Victorian flood events, and major fire incidents. His broader background in occupational rehabilitation, elite sport & music performance, and education has further shaped his interest in behaviour change, coaching, feedback, and performance under pressure.
