Rachel Morgain

Deputy Director, Melbourne Biodiversity Institute , Melbourne University
Rachel is an interdisciplinary researcher and practitioner focusing on interweaving knowledge systems and the cultural, social, political and structural dimensions of how we care for living worlds. She has long-standing interests in how cultural systems shape our connections with the diversity of all living things, including through art, religion, popular culture, social movements and political and economic systems. Her current work focuses on nature-based climate adaptation, climate extremes and ecological resilience, business decision-making for biodiversity, regional planning, and supporting First Nations governance, knowledge, and caring for Country. Through the Melbourne Biodiversity Institute, she builds inter-disciplinary cross-sector partnerships to solve the complex challenges of biodiversity loss.
