Raymond Yu joined the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (HKFSD) in 1994 as a Station Officer. He was one of the first group of Compartment Fire Behaviour Training (CFBT) instructors of the HKFSD and has participated in CFBT since 2001. He was promoted to Divisional Officer and served as the Assistant Commandant of the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy, overseeing the Technical Rescue training and CFBT from 2021 to 2023. During his 32 years of service in the HKFSD, Raymond has held various posts in the operational, fire protection, and training fields. He has also attended many international conferences and training courses to stay up to date on the latest developments and best practices. Raymond left the HKFSD as Divisional Officer in January 2025. He is currently the Director of Project Management of Hong Kong Skytech Ltd, organising and delivering fire training courses abroad. Raymond Yu graduated from Queen’s University of Belfast with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Chemical Engineering. Later, he obtained a Master of Arts in Comparative and Public History from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy from the Bulacan State University. He also earned a Graduate Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers.
