Saini Yang
Executive Director,
Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR)
Dr. Saini Yang is the Executive Director of the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR), co-sponsored by the International Science Council (ISC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). She is also a Professor at Beijing Normal University and Co-Chair of the UNESCO Chair on Mountain Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience. Her research focuses on integrated disaster risk reduction, risk analysis, and climate change adaptation. She has served as principal investigator on more than forty research projects and has published over 140 papers in leading academic journals, including Nature Climate Change and Nature Communications. She also serves on the editorial boards of several international journals. Dr. Yang is a member of both the Expert Committee of China’s National Disaster Reduction Commission and the Asia-Pacific Science and Technology Advisory Group (AP-STAG) of UNDRR.
