The AFAC powered by INTERSCHUTZ conferences bring together a broad spectrum of emergency management practitioners together to learn and share experiences. AFAC20 will start with the one-day Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC Research Forum on Tuesday 25 August 2020.

Days two and three of AFAC20 will feature the multi-streamed AFAC Conference, incorporating the Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) National Conference, the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference and the Women in Firefighting Australasia (WAFA) Conference.

Day four will see the Professional Development Program workshops and site tours.

Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC Research Forum

The Research Forum offers the latest research on a variety of topics from resilience and recovery, climate change, fire behaviour through to community preparedness.

Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 August 2020

The two-day AFAC Conference features international keynote speakers and local emergency management leaders. After the keynote sessions the conference splits into a multi-stream format which includes the ADRC/IFE/WAFA conferences.

Australian Disaster Resilience Conference

Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 August 2020

The ADRC will be part of the AFAC Conference stream and focuses on resilience and recovery from major disasters.

Institution of Fire Engineers (Australia) National Conference

Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 August 2020

The IFE (Australia) National Conference will focus on the key issues facing the fire engineering community. The conference will also be a stream within the AFAC conference.

Women in Firefighting Australasia (WAFA) Conference

Wednesday 26 – Thursday 27 August 2020

WAFA promote and celebrate women in firefighting and for the second time we are pleased to welcome their members into the AFAC conference.

Professional Development Program

The Professional Development Program (PDP) offers a range of practical workshops and site tours, aimed at increasing the knowledge of frontline agency personnel.
